Monster Jam!!!!!!
We went to Monster Jam with Cub Scouts!!!!!!! It was so fun! We were dancing around and hollering and having a great time. My assistant's son was playing the air guitar. I had his daughter singing into my hand as a microphone. Great ending to a wild week!

Love those special moments.
I have to brag for a moment. I am so proud of my son, he is so thoughtful. Recently, my Dad has built a playhouse for Tevon and one for my nieces. He also built a smaller desk for Tevon. Tevon was so appreciative of everything that he has done for him that he made him a trophy with his tools. He told me that other people don't always have a Papa as good as his Papa and he is so thankful for everything his Papa has done for him. He was so thankful that he wanted to do something for his Papa to show his appreciation. He has been filing away at a piece of wood, putting screws, nails and random objects in it, drilling holes in it, for a while now. He did all this during his "Papa time" in the garage hanging with the boys. Lol! He then gave his hard work to his Papa, which meant the world to me. Hopefully it did to my Dad too. My Dad hung it on the wall in his garage.
Talk about a Proud Mom Moment. I'm proud that he understands that people CAN do things for you or they CAN give things to you but they DON'T have to so be thankful when they do. Any mother of a little boy knows that they don't always show that sweet, wonderful side that us mom's love!

Fun, Foxy and Fifty!!!!
Friday was my mother's birthday, so on Saturday we threw her a surprise birthday party. Boy was it crazy making sure every detail was taken care of but we made it and had a wonderful time.
My sister and I decided that we needed to throw her a surprise birthday party. We ran, literally (lol), to my Dad with the idea and he was completely on board. The planning began.
We found these wonderful plates, napkins and table covers that said "Fun, Foxy, and Fifty!" They were hot pink, black and zebra print. We fell in love. For the cherry on top, we found them on sale, super cheap online! My kinda party decorations!
Now that this was ordered, my research began. My mom loves to throw parties so the pressure was on to make it a wonderful celebration for her.
My mom's best friend just happened to send me an invite to Pinterest right about the time I was looking for ideas. I ended up making all the decorations, minus the table covers, plates, and napkins for about $20. I can also reuse everything! I also made 50 cupcakes and all the decorations that went on them.
After a few issues with my sister and Dad confusing the times, my mom showed up, completely surprised. We all had a blast!
I love party planning and would love to get into it more. I'm already booked for two parties!

Drums!!!!
We made adorable Tom-Tom drums in Cub Scouts last night that they can use for the pow-wow next week. They lived them!!!
Here is how we did it:
I took an large tin can, like an old coffee can. Cut off both ends so that it is open all the way through.
Then decorate the can, however you would like. I used construction paper and scrap vinyl.
Then you take a piece of vinyl in water color you like. Draw a circle, about an inch bigger than your can.
Cut out two circles out of the vinyl, one for the top, the other for the bottom.
Cut about 6 holes around the edge of your vinyl circle. Don't get to close to the edge so that it doesn't pull through.
Then take a piece of string, cording or plastic lacing, which is what I used, and string it back and forth through your holes. Be sure to start on the bottom circle and then through the top circle. Keep going back and forth until you have laced all the holes in both circles.
Once you are done lacing, tie off your end and have fun drumming!!!

Homeschool
When Tevon was in Kindergarden I fell in love with his school. His Kindergarden teacher was wonderful. Well to put it nicely, I'm not exactly "in love" with the school this year. Some things have improved but some things have gone wrong. Top that with the fact that Tevon has been having some health issues, and it's just not a good year. They have not been and helpful and understanding as I thought they would be.
This upcoming year, 2012, will either turn out to be ok or it could be a horrible, scary year. Because of this I am debating on whether or not to homeschool Tevon until we can figure out all his health issues. I can see pro's and con's to both ways. See, he is in catholic school and it costs a lot of money to send him there and we are afraid he may not be in school for the whole year. We still have to pay whether he is there or not because we will sign a contract. If i homeschool him, he will still get social interaction through Cub Scouts, as long as he can attend, and hopefully basketball next winter, as long as he is okay health wise when it comes time. I guess I will pray about this for the next week or two.
Tonight we did a little "practice homeschool". He was really struggling with his spelling words this week.
We wrote them in triangles, typed them on the computer, wrote them out on paper, and my favorite, wrote them in shaving cream. It was really fun for him and really easy for me. I covered a cookie sheet with plastic wrap and sprayed on the shaving cream. When he was done, you simply, unwrap the plastic wrap and throw it in the garbage. I washed the cookie sheet just because I'm a germaphobe but it really did not get anything on it. I love to find new, unconventional ways for him to learn where he is having fun. The lesson seems to stick a lot better too.
I seen a version of the on Pinterest a few weeks ago. They put shaving cream in a ziplock bag (because they had a baby and toddler) and a little food coloring. Then they Used a q-tip to write/ or draw in the shaving cream through the bag. I wanted a bigger writing space so I put it on a cookie sheet and left out the food coloring so his fingers wouldn't turn colors.
We also have a continuos math lesson going. To practice money, he had to "pay" for snacks and drinks and anything else I can think of at the time. He has a box with some change in it. I'll give him the "cost" and he has to lay out the change to the amount. Once he gets it right, he gets whatever he was wanting and gets to keep the money for next time.

Skate Night with school
Tonight was Skate Night with school. We had a blast! Tevon was doing so much better than he did last time we went, over a year ago. This was only his second time skating. Every time I went to take a picture of him, he would start to fall and grab the rail but he really wasn't holding on the whole time. Lol! He even tried to race the big kids. I'm so proud of him. He did end up doing the splits once though. Both feet went the opposite direction, needless to say, poor thing laid there for a moment. Lol!
Now, as far as me skating...well, I've already taken some Advil. The kids thought it was a funny game to knock Mrs. Greenwell to the ground. Needless to say, two succeeded and I am getting stiff already.
They called everyone out to do Hokie-pokie and the Chicken Dance. Two other parents were trying to help me coax our boys out there. I finally get two out there, turn around and the parents are hiding. Later found them in the concession stand. It's nice to have friends huh? Lol!

Reduce reuse recycle
When I moved into my new house, a friend of mine gave me a computer desk for Tevon's room. Once we moved it in, I realized that it took up too much space in his room. So it took me a while to get creative and come up with an idea to adjust it. This was a big desk, with a top portion that had shelves that took up almost a whole wall beside the door. My Dad came over and helped me take the top portion off. He then used that wood to make a corner desk, the size I wanted. All i had to do was paint it the color i wanted. I finished painting it today. It cost me about $20 for two desks now and i did a small part to reuse. Im going to reuse a few other products to decorate with. Once I get it moved in, I will post pictures of the finished room. The bigger portion of the desk is going in our spare bedroom for my crafting area. Yeah me!!!! I'm excited!
Tevon was working with his tools that my Dad bought him while I was working on the desk, and my Dad was working on the hot rod. It was cute. Tevon even had his hammer hanging from the loop on his pants. My little man!

My Gift
There is nothing more important to me than my faith in God and my family. Having my son in my life has been the best thing that could have ever happened to me. There is no telling who I would be if it weren't for God blessing me with him. Everyday I look at this child and feel God's power and love for us. I feel as though God is working through my hands to create a faithful follower.
I have read several different people's blogs, some are focused on just their children (which I love), some are focused on crafts (which I love too), but I wanted to go a different direction. My blog is focused on everything that being a mother has to do with, my son, crafts, education, Cub Scouts, basketball, organization, etc. etc. etc. LOL!
As of July 2011 I quit my job to be a stay-at-home-mom (SAHM). I have loved everything about it! I voluteer at my son's school, I help with his class in the computer lab, I am a substitute teacher at his school, I am the Den Leader for his Cub Scout Pack, I am his basketball coach for the school team, but most important I am a hands on mother. I love to spend every moment I can with my son. I love to watch him enjoy life.
Here are a few snapshots from our life:
