We were supposed to go to the zoo Saturday with Cub Scouts but due to the weather it got canceled so I got busy on some much needed work.
First I turned an outdated navy blue dress into a modern vintage dress for Easter. I got this dress free about 2 years ago and hadn't done a thing with it. I cut off the floofy sheer sleeves, brought them hem up quite a bit, and Wallah! It's hard to see from this picture but it turned out really cute once on. I'll add more pictures after Easter.
Then I took one of Michael's button-up shirts and turned it into a new shirt. I bought him a long-sleeve white button up for Easter a few years back but it didn't fit right. We didn't have time to get a new one so he wore it but to this day still picks on me for it. So what better solution than to cut it up! Lol!
I turned it into a fitted, short sleeve, ruffled front, button-up shirt. It was a lot easier than it sounds.
After all that was finished, I got started on my spring cleaning. It didn't take that long to finish the entire house. I'm a clean freak anyways so my house wasn't that bad to start off with. I used this pin from Pinterest and it really helped!

I also discovered Borax! Wonderful stuff. You can use it to clean everything in your house, from dishes to laundry to bathrooms. It can also be used as an ant detergent I am told. I haven't tried that one yet. I did use it to clean my whole house, and it made it so easy. I also used it in my white laundry and WOW! It really made them white and helped to fight stains. It's only $5.00 for a huge box. I am a hooked! My new best friend, lol!
After church today I went shopping for our Easter outfits. I made mine, Tevon was simple, Michael....whew! He was difficult. But I think we have it figured out.
Then tonight I helped my sister get some things organized at her house while Michael mowed her grass and moved some furniture for her. Happy Early Birthday Sissy!

Perfect day!
Today we got up and did a little cleaning around the house the started our day. First, we went to the library. Tevon loves going to the library so when he asks to go I never complain!
Then we visited my grandfather. He has been sick but he looks wonderful today! Seems to be doing much better. If they could just get some things figured out it would be great. He has to have surgery Tuesday so hopefully things will be better!
On the way to see my grandpa we stopped to see the tank on the side of Dixie Hwy. Tevon thought it was so cool!
When we got home, a leprachon had visited our house. Tevon set out a trap with clover inside before we left. He just made a mess with it and left a note. It said, "fast as fast can be, can't catch me! -Luck of the Irish". Tevon was so excited! He ran all over the house looking for it!
Then I got a free spray on tan at Sun Tan City. They teamed up with March of Dimes and with a $5 donation you get a free spray on tan.
Burger King was giving away free fries with green ketchup today so I took Tevon and my niece. It looked too gross for me. I ate regular ketchup.
Then to end a perfect day, we are watching the Kentucky game. Let's go Cats!

Tornado Relief
This week in Cub Scouts we collected items for the tornado victims from March 2, 2012. I was surprised and pleased with how much my den (with exception of a couple) was really in to this project. They had all been telling me their "scary" stories so I thought now would be a great time to really get through to these children.
When I was packing up the items at the end of our meeting, the kids were running around playing. A few of the boys from my den came over with out being asked and began helping. Remember they are only 6! As they began to help some of the older kids followed but not all of them. I am so proud of my boys!
Tevon really enjoyed helping as well. I had to take all the items to the Boy Scout Store. He thought he was big stuff when we were carrying all of the boxes in. And when I say boxeS I mean several packed to the max. So proud!

Homeschool
Next year I am going to homeschool Tevon. Mainly because he is going to have to have two big surgeries coming up and he would miss a lot of school. Since he is in catholic school they do not offer any form of distance learning and I do not want to pay them for an education that I am giving him.
I have been doing A LOT of research on what he should be learning next year because I don't want him to fall behind. In the process I have found some really great websites.
I think every parent buys those little math workbooks and so forth at the store for their kids. Some you can find cheap. Some not so much! Lol! Well I found some great websites that you can pick and choose which worksheets to print and do with your child.. Most even go from pre-k on up.
I am getting pretty excited about homeschooling now. I think he will really enjoy it and learn a lot! I can teach him at his pace which I love. I just hope that we both can go back to regular school when the time comes.

www.atozteacherstuff.com
www.superteacherworksheets.com
www.spellingcity.com (they have games that Tevon plays every week now to practice his spelling words)
The worksheets all came from these great websites and possibly a few more. In no way did I create any of them. I am merely showing examples of what can be found. They are all second grade level that I have here but the websites above have lots more.
