Hiking!

Yesterday we went hiking at Fort Duffield with Cub Scouts. We went on a two hour hike straight uphill for 1 1/2 hours then straight downhill for 30 minutes. It was a good workout and a lot of fun! May have to go back and do that again. The only bad part was that the ticks are out real bad. I ended up with three and Tevon didn't have any.

Big Fun Weekend!

We decided to take a last minute vacation weekend. My parents have a cabin at Nolin Lake, so we went down there. We went to Lost River Cave, made it just in time at Mammoth Cave for them to tell us we are too late (at 3:00), Cave Hollow Bay, went canoeing, went to the lake, went four-wheeling and went to a tractor pull. It was a busy weekend but packed full of fun! We also got to ride the ferry across Green River several times, which is my husbands favorite part.

Other than, a car ran off the road twice in front of us, slid towards us then went around us before smashing into a gas line and a parked car, our weekend was great! Thank you God for laying your hand upon us and protecting us!

Easy Chair Redo!

I finally finished my new chairs. Well they are not new at all but new to me. I am so excited to show you.

I bought two chairs at Peddlers Mall for $2.00. It was such a steal, both chairs for just $2.00! They weren't pretty but I could see the potential.

I took them home and sanded them down and took off the seat and back cushions.

I put primer on them just to be safe. If not you could take the chance of the paint not sticking to the surface good and flaking off later. Especially if you still have a little varnish left.

Then I painted them solid black. Well actually my husband took them to his shop and sprayed them for me.

Then I had found an old ugly polyester skirt suit at Peddlers Mall that was the perfect color. I don't remember exactly but I think I only paid $1.00 for it. I coveted both chair with the fabric.

THEY TURNED OUT GREAT! And super easy! I can always take the cushions off and recover them in a different fabric if I want.

Oh, be sure to wash everything before you get started!

Now Tevon has a chair to match his desk that I made and his room.

Easter Eggs!

I wanted to color Easter Eggs this year but I hate using artificial dye on food that we eat. So I found this pin on Pinterest where they use Kool-Aid to dye the eggs. You use a whole package of Kool-Aid and 2/3 cup of warm water in a coffee cup.

They actually turned out very pretty. Well except for the fact that I thought that the Tropic Punch in the blue package would be blue. That is false advertisement! Lol! So we had two red dyes.
