Drums!!!!

We made adorable Tom-Tom drums in Cub Scouts last night that they can use for the pow-wow next week. They lived them!!!

Here is how we did it:

I took an large tin can, like an old coffee can. Cut off both ends so that it is open all the way through.

Then decorate the can, however you would like. I used construction paper and scrap vinyl.

Then you take a piece of vinyl in water color you like. Draw a circle, about an inch bigger than your can.

Cut out two circles out of the vinyl, one for the top, the other for the bottom.

Cut about 6 holes around the edge of your vinyl circle. Don't get to close to the edge so that it doesn't pull through.

Then take a piece of string, cording or plastic lacing, which is what I used, and string it back and forth through your holes. Be sure to start on the bottom circle and then through the top circle. Keep going back and forth until you have laced all the holes in both circles.

Once you are done lacing, tie off your end and have fun drumming!!!
